Obituary for David Born

David Born
BORN, David Luther

In his 79th year (June 21, 1940) on Tuesday August 28th at home surrounded by his family that he loved so dearly. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Elizabeth (Roberts) his devoted son Todd Howarth (Melanie) and his two loving daughters Joanne Hill (Jamie) and Jane Born Price (Jason). After attending The University of Waterloo and a short stint in the Canadian Airforce he worked very hard as an electrician at General Motors for nearly 40 years to educate and care for his family and was very proud of their accomplishments and of the people they had become. He loved their dear spouses who were always so kind and loving and helpful throughout his long ordeal. David had suffered with heart trouble for many years and prostate cancer for the last eight years. He loved to travel, mostly by car and had many great trips across this beautiful country, the U.S and abroad. He loved Nascar races and tinkering with and repairing his cars but most of all he loved his children and many times expressed how lucky he felt to see how well they his children had turned out and he treasured the grandchildren they had given him. He delighted in their love and company. Nicholas and Charlotte Howarth, Lauren and Kristen Hill and Rheagan and Rhylenn Price his sweethearts all. He is survived by his sister Carole Criger (Bill), his niece Janet Goosen (Benny) and nephew Donald Criger (Shelley) and their families, his sisters-in-law Liane Roberts and Jane Slorach (Leslie). David was predeceased by his parents Sam and Cora Born and by his beloved first wife Joyce (Coull) and their infant son Joseph. Joyce was mother of his dear Joanne. A long battle well fought. Thanks to the Juravinski hospital, the St. Catharines General Hospital, the Walker Cancer Clinic, especially “Mugs” and his doctors Casselman and especially David Wasserman and Michael Hatcher along with the E.R. staff, the Niagara Paramedics and the St. Catharines Fire Service who were called upon on more than one occasion. David has chosen cremation and a service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Christ Church McNab, 1294 McNab Road, Niagara-on-the-Lake, followed by a “Party” in his honour. Thank you to all of our friends who kept up our spirits through his ordeal. He rests in peace for sure, a kind, loving man. If so desired, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Niagara Children’s Centre or a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 52 Scott Street West, St. Catharines (between Ontario Street & South Service Road), 289-362-1144.
